Abuja bank siege ends with one robber killed, others arrested

– Nigerian Army reveals The bank confirmed the end of the horrible incident in an official statement. The management also assured that customers and staff of the institution were all safe and well. “We wish to inform everyone that the attempted robbery incident that happened at one of our branches in Abuja has been foiled; customers and staff are unhurt, and the suspects have been apprehended.
“The immediate response by the police and military is very commendable and we truly appreciate them for their doggedness and commitment.”
According to the online news medium, the robbers stormed the bank, shooting sporadically into the air to scare people away but instead attracted the attention of law enforcement agents. Policemen and soldiers arrived on the scene just shortly after the thieves gained entrance into the bank. They positioned themselves close to the entrance of the bank effectively preventing the robbers from leaving with their loot. One robber, daredevil enough to venture out of the bank, was shot by the law enforcement agents waiting on the outside. The police has now confirmed that the robber died after he stumbled back into the bank with at least one gunshot wound.
The robbery incidence came just days after President Muhammadu Buhari specifically warned criminals, terrorists and armed gangs to steer clear and caution themselves as security operatives will be on guard to deal with anyone who tries to disrupt calm and order during and beyond the season. He added that if the miscreants refuse to take heed to this warning, they will definitely meet their end.
